The first five years of life are critical to establishing positive or negative pathways toward health and well-being yet inequities in Pacific child health still exist.
This current report released by the New Zealand Child and Youth Epidemiology Service based at the University of Otago provides a snapshot of achievements and challenges within the first five years of life.
For every health condition that is discussed (e.g. antenatal care, oral health) a section on ‘evidence for good practice’ and ‘equity’ followed with a comprehensive list of guidelines (NZ and international), reviews, websites and references is provided for health professionals and individuals to explore the evidence further.
