MIT Bachelor of Nursing Pacific students on placement with Moana Research

We are excited to have four Bachelor of Nursing Pacific students undertake their clinical placement with Moana Research.  The students (L-R) Ilaisaane Tupou, Halleluiagrace Taefu, Paris Patelesio, and Paul Mau are in the last year of their nursing degree.  Their placement with Moana Research enables these future nurses to understand the importance of research, in particular, the translational aspect of evidence, and using this within their own clinical practice.

During their time with us, the four BNP5 students will be working on the Pasifika measles ‘catch up’ campaign Moana Research is leading alongside Counties Manukau Health.  Focusing on Pasifika 15-30-year-olds in the Counties Manukau region, the campaign is aimed at those who may not be immunised against measles so that they can receive a FREE measles vaccination to ensure they are protected.

Ilaisaane, Halleluiagrace, Paris, and Paul will be with us for the next six weeks and will be working closely with the team, to organise community clinics where Pasifika 15-30-year-olds can receive their vaccinations directly within their communities, such as churches and sports clubs.

We look forward to providing updates on the measles campaign and the student’s time with us.
